Frequently Asked Questions
Sometimes the best way to understand something isn’t through a long speech, it’s by answering the right questions. FAQs shed light on who we are by tackling the real things men want to know. What is this group? Who’s it for? What’s expected? Why does it matter? You’ll learn more from honest answers to those questions than you would from us just rambling on about ourselves.
But Why Are There Multiple Answers?
Foxhole isn’t run by a staff team writing polished statements from behind a desk. It’s led by real men, built through real relationships, giving honest answers from the heart.
So instead of posting one sanitized FAQ answer, we asked a handful of our leaders to respond in their own words. Ranging from serious, funny, brief, long-winded, respectful, blunt, and everything in between. All of them reflect the diversity, depth, and conviction of the men who make up this group.
Each question expands to show multiple responses. Different voices, one mission: to forge men into Christ-centered leaders through brotherhood, discipleship, and service.
- 01
Cooley - The Foxhole is a Christ-centered brotherhood committed to forging men into leaders through brotherhood, discipleship, service. It exists because men are drifting, isolated, undiscipled, and detached from meaningful responsibility in their homes, churches, and communities.
Creel - The foxhole is a group of men who decided they were tired of the status-quo. We decided to take action as the bible asks us to do to come together to grow to become Christ-centered leaders in our churches, families and communities through brotherhood, discipleship and service.
Dollar - Men tired of just existing! It’s a brotherhood that strives to sharpen each other. The Foxhole is ment to put your faith into action and show our communities a biblical lifestyle of service and sacrifice. We focus on building each other into godly fathers, husbands, workers, and community leaders.
Whitley - A foxhole is a group of men who understand that there is a spiritual war going on, and have banded together to hold each other up and "push back darkness."
Williams - A group of men who have set out to step further into the role that God has given them as men. We do this mainly through brotherhood, discipleship, and serving.
Wilson - Men who made a commitment to grow in their faith. Men who decided to be true Christ followers. Men who bonded together in brotherhood because of what Jesus has done in their lives. Men who decided to commit to service.

Cooley - Most men’s groups or men’s Bible studies don’t really require anything from the men who attend. The Foxhole requires a lot.
Creel - A bible study is usually a few people who get together and read a passage from the bible and discuss once per week or monthly. Bible studies usually do not go further than that. This is different in the way we discuss and act. Whether studying the bible or going through a podcast or book, we discuss with a group in depth and ask questions for a longer format. We also fellowship before usually with a meal. We then expect service as well and usually meet each Saturday to serve those in need.
Dollar - Foxhole has a unique focus on active service in the community. We blow right past all the fluff of a standard 1 hour Bible study with the Sunday school question and answer and get right into personal struggles and challenges men really face.
Whitley - Foxhole asks more of you than a Bible study ever will: time commitment, sacrifice, vulnerability, to disciple others and be discipled.
Williams - There’s a raw factor that isn’t typically welcome in a standard church setting today. If comfortable is your goal, Foxhole is not for you.
Wilson - Commitment is not only expected it is required. The brotherhood is active in building into the men around them. Discussion is genuine and sometimes raw or intense.

Cooley - No.
Creel - Foxhole is not a church. A church is defined as a local, visible assembly of scripturally baptized believers in covenant relationship, existing independently and self-governing, and focused on fulfilling the Great Commission. Foxhole is a group of men, mostly church going men, who joined together to disciple each other to become better leaders in our churches, homes, and communities in order to better carry out what God has asked us to do through service. Foxhole is a non-profit organization seeking to show Jesus through our actions to lead the lost to his Kingdom. Foxhole to me, should supplement the churches we are a part of by making us better Christ-like followers and leaders.
Dollar - No. But churches with Foxhole men in them are definitely going to see more involvement and dedication to seeing their church grow spiritually with a strong focus on being kingdom minded.
Whitley - No! Foxhole's mission is to forge men into Christ-centered leaders. We help churches by pointing men to Christ. A man living for Christ will lead in his home, church, and community.
Williams - Nope.
Wilson - No, it is not a church. Foxhole is a way to create intense, focused discipleship with the goal of making men better in every area of their lives, including their church life. Foxhole teaches a clear expectation for men to lead their families in church life.

Cooley - Yes.
Creel - Church membership is not required; however, the purpose of the foxhole is to create Christ-centered leaders in our CHURCHES, families and communities through brotherhood, discipleship and service. As we would hope that foxhole grows each of us closer to Christ and through the reading of His word, one would assume that would lead to church membership in a local New Testament church to serve.
Dollar - Foxhole is for men who want to grow in their faith in God. You may not be in a church right now but as you mature in your faith you have to face the fact that God has designed us to be part of a local body of believers in a church setting. There is no perfect church so don’t wait for it before you join. We prepare men to be an asset to their church and that’s what we expect.
Whitley - No, but as you grow in Christ, you will be convicted about joining and serving faithfully in a church.
Williams - If we are following Jesus like we should, local church membership is a must.
Wilson - We have experienced both realities in the Foxhole, men who are committed to church and those who need to be committed to church. With that we have allowed men to enter as non-church members but we will not allow them to stay that way. We promote growth as a requirement not a suggestion.
- 05
Cooley - We invite non-Christians to attend our Monday nights and Saturday service projects all the time. But the truth is simple, you can show up to the Foxhole, but that doesn’t make you a Foxhole guy. Real Foxhole men are Christians. That’s why we do what we do.
Creel - We welcome anyone who wants to see what we are about in helping others, but a non-believer would quickly find out we are focused on Christ. We strike that through our actions, conversations and studies, a non-believer could see Christ through us and be led by the holy spirit to come to know Jesus as their personal savior.
Dollar - Come as you are but don’t expect to stay the same. What we do will change you in every way. If you don’t find yourself growing mentally, spiritually, and physically you won’t last long in the Foxhole.
Whitley - Yes, but you will hear the Gospel and choose to either accept or reject it.
Williams - If a non-Christian shows up, he won’t be run off. He will be told the gospel and prayed for that he would accept Jesus’ free gift of salvation. But a non-Christian does not meet the standard.
Wilson - Again, we have allowed non-believers to visit our meetings only not our service projects with the intent to put them in an environment with real Christ followers. And we have seen salvation take place in some and the others don’t stay.

Cooley - These men need a place to serve. They need to see the impact it has on their relationships with the men in this group and the impact it has on someone for the sake of the Gospel.
Creel - To do what God asks us to: Love God and love each other. We want to serve those who cannot help themselves so they may see God through us and we may share the gospel through service and conversation to further the Kingdom of God.
Dollar - Developing men into leaders who aren’t afraid of hard work and sacrifice. This is where you get to pour your heart, mind, and body into the needs of those who need it most. It builds trust and camaraderie with the men in your foxhole.
Whitley - Men bond over working together, not breakfast devotionals. We seek to meet real needs in the community and represent Jesus Christ in doing it. The real ministry is the men we work alongside. When you sweat and serve together, you build trust and accountability--the foundations of discipleship.
Williams - To glorify the name of Jesus.
Wilson - The real mission is the further disciple men by creating a heart of service. In doing this we not only grow the men we also impact those being served by showing them Jesus. This has shown to be fruitful in both areas.
